Always tall for my age, I learned to lengthen a hem before high school, and my penchant for design and alternation grew as I got older.  To give a productive outlet to that side while I work on my doctorate (teaching is my day job), I launched Brooker Hollow in the fall of 2010.

Inspired by my grandmother’s lifetime of making beautiful, handcrafted things, I named Brooker Hollow in her honor — after the road where she lived in upstate New York.

Designs reflect the worlds I move between most and have come to love equally: farm towns and cities.  Variations in gauge, cables, and rich hues render a country feel, and are inspired by the rolling peaks of the Catskills and farm fields of eastern Long Island where I grew up; ribbed, geometric patterns and oversized, structural silhouettes find inspiration in the steel landscapes of New York, the city I now call home.

I use a variety of materials–from 100% natural to a blend of synthetics–to keep things as affordable as possible and accommodate those of us who struggle with allergies. Stay up-to-date with the latest Brooker Hollow announcements, events, and sightings at the BH blog and on Twitter.
